Job Description
Dignity Health Rehabilitation Hospital, in partnership with Select Medical, is a distinguished inpatient rehabilitation facility dedicated to delivering exceptional and compassionate care to patients facing a range of medical challenges. These include brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputations, and multiple traumas. Together, these entities bring a wealth of expertise and resources aimed at promoting recovery and improving the quality of life for their patients. The hospital prides itself on fostering an environment that addresses not only the physical but also the emotional and vocational needs of individuals undergoing rehabilitation. This patient-centered approach ensures comprehensive care that supports recovery on multiple levels.
As a Cook at Dignity Health Rehabilitation Hospital, you become an integral part of the healthcare team responsible for the preparation and service of meals to patients, staff, and visitors. This role involves more than just food preparation; it is about contributing to the healing environment by providing nutritious, high-quality meals that meet specific dietary needs. The position is offered on a per diem basis, providing flexibility for those seeking part-time opportunities. Compensation is competitive at $20.00 per hour, reflecting the importance of the role within the hospital setting.
The Cook position includes a robust orientation program designed to ensure new team members are well-acquainted with the facility's standards and expectations, facilitating a smooth transition into the hospital environment. This role also offers opportunities for advancement, where dedicated individuals can demonstrate their skills and potentially move into full-time employment. Benefits such as 401k eligibility after achieving certain hours underscore the hospital's commitment to the well-being of its employees. As a Cook, you will be expected to uphold the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and infection control, playing a critical role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for both patients and staff.
In addition to preparing meals, the Cook may be required to assist with cleaning duties within kitchen and dining areas, ensuring that all spaces meet the hospital's hygiene standards. In the absence of the Manager, the Cook will supervise dietary staff, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures that govern food preparation and service. This supervisory aspect highlights the trust placed in the Cook to maintain operational excellence.
The ideal candidate is a resourceful and results-oriented team player who is capable of overcoming obstacles with inventive solutions. You should thrive in a dynamic environment and be driven by a commitment to delivering quality in every task, always treating others with respect and empathy. This role demands a proactive approach, including the ability to interpret written and verbal instructions accurately, maintain proper portion control, and demonstrate a willingness to assist wherever needed.
