Job Requirements

  • Possess or obtain State of California Food Handler Certification within three months of hire
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Flexibility to work at all UCSF Health locations
  • Ability to read, write and be understood in English
  • Willingness to work days, evenings, weekends and variable shifts
  • Ability to maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • Reliable and punctual with strong teamwork skills

Job Qualifications

  • State of California Food Handler Certification or obtain within three months of hire
  • High school diploma or combination of education and experience
  • Graduation from a recognized culinary school or two years food production experience
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Experience in training and developing culinary or production staff preferred
  • Knowledge of HACCP standards preferred
  • Two years of college or equivalent preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare food for patient food services, café, coffee shops and conference center events
  • Establish and monitor food quality standards including food temperature monitoring
  • Solve issues related to culinary services before, during and after meal periods
  • Assist with maintaining safety and sanitation within the culinary department
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Train and assist culinary and production staff as needed
  • Collaborate with team members to uphold UCSF Health standards
