Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum one year cooking experience in restaurant, hotel or healthcare
  • Ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English
  • Ability to write and follow oral and written instructions and simple math
  • Willingness to cross-train within the Food Service Department
  • Ability to organize time and promote teamwork to achieve CHOC's mission
  • Ability to lift and carry 40-50 lbs
  • Capacity to push, pull or laterally transfer 150-200 lbs
  • Weekend availability
  • No licensure required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum one year cooking experience in restaurant, hotel or healthcare
  • Preferred associate degree or culinary degree
  • Preferred Serv-Safe certification
  • Ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English
  • Ability to write and follow oral and written instructions
  • Strong teamwork and customer service skills
  • Willingness to cross-train within the Food Service Department
  • Preferred bilingual skills
  • Preferred strong catering and computer skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare food for patients, catering and cafeteria using standardized recipes, production sheets and catering request forms
  • Ensure food is prepared in a timely manner to meet the meal service deadlines
  • Ensure food meets standards of color, texture, appearance, temperature, and is attractively served and garnished
  • Handle food using appropriate safety and sanitation standards
  • Deliver and/or serve food as required
  • Organize time efficiently to maintain smooth kitchen operations
  • Collaborate with team members to promote teamwork and achieve CHOC's mission
