Job Description

North Jersey Friendship House is a well-established rehabilitation facility located in North Jersey dedicated to supporting individuals with varying abilities through pre-vocational training programs. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team on a part-time basis. This position is classified as Non-Exempt with an hourly wage of $21.00 and operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with some flexibility required. In this role, the cook will be instrumental in preparing and cooking high-quality meals within a professional kitchen environment at North Jersey Friendship House. The cook will work closely with staff who support clients by involving them in food preparation and cooking processes, promoting teamwork and skill-building among individuals with disabilities.

The Cook will be responsible for preparing ingredients, executing cooking techniques, maintaining food safety standards, and contributing to menu development and recipe planning. This position also requires collaboration with kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal service and assist with internal food serving duties. The cook will also monitor inventory and help with ordering supplies to maintain well-stocked kitchen operations. It is important to ensure each meal meets strict quality standards for taste, presentation, and portion control. The candidate must have previous experience in the food service industry, preferably at least two years, demonstrating strong culinary skills and knowledge of food safety regulations, including ServeSafe Food Handler certification or willingness to achieve within six months. The role demands attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while fostering a supportive atmosphere for clients and staff alike.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a cook role
