The Cook position at Forefront Healthcare is vital to maintaining the company’s standards of excellence in patient and resident meal preparation. This role involves preparing food according to federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies to ensure patient safety and satisfaction. Working closely under the direction of the General Manager and Executive Chef, the Cook is responsible for following standardized recipes, managing portion sizes, and maintaining presentation standards. The role also involves assisting in meal delivery, order taking, and monitoring food temperatures throughout preparation and service to ensure quality and safety. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain detailed production and waste logs, inspect deliveries in the absence of executive supervision, and assist with the supervision and storage of food supplies. Forefront Healthcare seeks individuals who are attentive to detail, possess strong organizational skills, and are committed to upholding sanitation and safety practices. Job Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • High school graduate or equivalent education is preferred
  • Preference given to persons with education in quantity cooking and therapeutic diets

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum one year food service experience in a healthcare dietary setting is desired
  • Minimum of two years working in food and beverage operation preferred
  • General knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders, and work assignments
  • Able and willing to work flexible hours including emergency situations
  • Patient and tolerant towards staff, patients, and family members

Job Duties

  • Follow standardized recipes, portioning, menu extensions, and presentation standards
  • Complete and utilize daily production worksheets and waste log sheets
  • Taste completed meals to ensure quality standards
  • Monitor temperature of hot and cold foods through preparation and service to ensure established temperature goals are met
  • Inspect food products and supplies upon delivery in absence of Executive Chef
  • Supervise and assist in storage of supplies and food products
  • Notify General Manager of supplies or equipment needs, report equipment breakdowns and unsafe conditions
  • Comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations
  • Perform other department duties assigned by General Manager or Executive Chef
