Job Description

The Bungalows at Springfield East is a well-established, reputable senior living community dedicated to providing high-quality care and hospitality services to its residents. Known for its welcoming and supportive environment, this community strives to enhance the quality of life for seniors by ensuring their needs are met with compassion and professionalism. The Bungalows at Springfield East offers a range of amenities and services designed to promote independence and well-being, including comfortable living spaces, engaging activities, and excellent dining options. The culinary team plays a vital role in this mission by providing nutritious and delicious meals tailored to meet the unique dietary needs of each resident.

The Part-Time Cook position at The Bungalows at Springfield East is an essential role within the Food and Beverage department. Reporting directly to the Food and Beverage Director, the Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals that meet or exceed quality standards and are consistent with the community's hospitality service guidelines. This position requires open availability, including weekends, making it suitable for candidates who can offer flexible scheduling. The Cook must ensure that all food preparation complies with federal, state, and local regulations, maintaining the highest standards of sanitation and safety. Additionally, the Cook will manage food production effectively in the absence of the Lead Cook or Food and Beverage Director, demonstrating strong leadership skills and attention to detail.

The role encompasses a wide range of duties related to food preparation, sanitation, record keeping, and regulatory compliance. The Cook is expected to follow approved standardized recipes and production sheets, prepare texture-modified and special dietary meals as directed, and maintain sanitary conditions in all food service areas. Monitoring food quality, temperature, and taste is critical to ensuring resident satisfaction and safety. The Cook is also responsible for operating dishwashing equipment according to Food Safety Standards and ensuring all kitchen tools and surfaces are properly sanitized.

In addition to food preparation, this role requires diligent record keeping of various measures related to food safety and service standards, such as equipment, refrigerator, freezer, cooking, holding, and cooling temperatures. The Cook must maintain confidentiality regarding resident dietary information and review diet books, confidential diet boards, or data cards to provide accurate and safe meals. This attention to detail ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and supports the overall health and well-being of residents.

Overall, this Part-Time Cook position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and senior care to contribute to a meaningful community service. Candidates who enjoy a dynamic work environment and are committed to maintaining high standards in food quality and safety will find this role rewarding. The Bungalows at Springfield East values teamwork, integrity, and dedication, and looks forward to welcoming enthusiastic cooks ready to make a positive impact on residents' dining experiences.
