Job Requirements

  • Possess minimum of 8th grade education
  • Food experience in a supervisory capacity preferred
  • Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Must make independent decisions when warranted
  • Ability to interact tactfully with a diverse group
  • Knowledge of food procedures
  • Leadership and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas
  • Patience and enthusiasm
  • Ability to incorporate new food preparation methods
  • Must not pose a direct threat to workplace health or safety

Job Qualifications

  • Possess a minimum of 8th grade education
  • One year food experience in supervisory capacity preferred but not necessary
  • Knowledge of food procedures
  • Leadership ability
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies
  • Ability to maintain sanitation, order, and safety in food service areas
  • Patience, tact, and cheerful disposition

Job Duties

  • Review menus prior to preparation of food
  • Inspect special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident
  • Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submit to the Director of Food Services
  • Coordinate food service with other departments as necessary
  • Work with the facility's dietitian as necessary and implement recommended changes as required
  • Ensure that all food procedures are followed in accordance with established policies
  • Assist in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished
