The Cook/Baker role at Franciscan Health Lafayette East Campus plays a vital part in maintaining the facility’s high standards for food service. This position is responsible for preparing nutritious and high-quality foods for patients, staff, special events, and visitors. The Cook/Baker ensures that food preparation complies strictly with regulatory agency requirements and adheres to established safety and sanitation guidelines. This role requires careful attention to detail, as the individual must label and date food products accurately, meet food preparation schedules, and apply safe food handling techniques to maintain the highest standards of quality and appearance in food served. The Cook/Baker utilizes various kitchen equipment such as combo-ovens, slicers, steamers, and mixers, following production sheets to guarantee that the correct quantities of food are made and available to all service areas within the facility.
This is a full-time position with varying shifts available from 5 am to 7:30 pm, including weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. The role demands reliability, efficiency, and a commitment to upholding health regulations from federal, state, and HFAP regulatory agencies. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 2 years of experience in institutional cooking preferred
- 1 year of food service and/or cooking experience preferred
- ServSafe food handler certification required in Illinois
- ServSafe food handler certification preferred in Indiana
- Ability to work full-time hours from 5 am to 7:30 pm with weekends and holidays rotation
- Compliance with federal, state, and HFAP sanitation and safety regulations
Job Qualifications
- Preferred high school diploma/GED
- 2 years institutional cooking preferred
- 1 year food service and/or cooking preferred
- food handler certification - ServSafe required in Illinois
- food handler certification - ServSafe preferred in Indiana
