Currently, Patina Restaurant Group is seeking dedicated and skilled Cooks to join their team specifically for the PGA Championships, a high-profile event attracting golf enthusiasts and guests from around the world. This temporary employment opportunity offers a chance for culinary professionals to showcase their talents in a fast-paced, demanding environment while working alongside a team dedicated to excellence.

The role of Cook during the PGA Championships involves preparing food according to detailed specifications, ensuring quality, safety, and consistency throughout the event. Cooks will be responsible for measuring and portioning ingredients accurately and utilizing various kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, pots, pans, grills, ovens, steamers, and warmers. Maintaining the proper temperature and storage of food items to guarantee freshness and compliance with health standards is a critical component of this position.

In addition to food preparation, Cooks are expected to keep their workstations clean, organized, and well-stocked throughout their shifts. Adhering to all health codes and sanitation regulations is mandatory, along with the proper handling and documentation of waste to minimize spoilage. Performance of opening and closing duties, including inventory management, is part of the daily workflow, ensuring smooth operations throughout the event.

This position requires a strong commitment to teamwork, as Cooks will collaborate closely with other kitchen staff and event personnel. The ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment, while maintaining attention to detail and service quality, is essential. Physical stamina is also important given the demands of standing, lifting, and working in conditions that may be hot or noisy.

The available shifts cover multiple days beginning Sunday, May 10th through Sunday, May 17th, with two different schedule options to accommodate various availability. Punctuality and attendance are highly valued, with a bonus incentive offered to those who complete all eight days without tardiness or absence. The initial workday on May 10th is a required commitment for cooks interested in participating in the remainder of the event.

Job Requirements

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to chop, mix, blend, whip etc a variety of foods and liquids
  • Ability to lift and carry large pans, weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to handle and/or operate all kitchen equipment in a safe manner
  • Standing and walking for entire length of shift
  • Frequently required to reach up to 6-7 feet, twist at waist, bending and squatting
  • Pushing and pulling occasionally, to move equipment, mops, and brooms
  • Kitchen environment - noise levels may be moderate-to-high
  • Works frequently in a hot and damp environment

Job Qualifications

  • At least 6 months previous experience in back-of-the-house foodservice position required
  • Ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and recipes
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to understand, calculate and follow recipe measurements and proportions
  • Available leading up to and during the event

Job Duties

  • Cook food items according to recipes and food production standards
  • Ensure food is safely prepared and at the proper temperature for consumption
  • Keep cooking station clean and orderly during shift
  • Comply with all sanitation and safety standards to ensure a safe work environment
  • Safely use and operate cooking appliances and utensils
  • Provide friendly and helpful customer service for guests as needed
  • Assist in ordering and receiving food products for the kitchen as needed
  • Work in a busy environment and standing for long periods of time
