Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in food preparation and cooking
  • ability to pass a written examination with a minimum score of 70 percent
  • ability to pass an oral interview contributing 70 percent of examination weight
  • successful completion of preplacement medical assessment
  • fingerprint clearance by federal and state authorities
  • possession of a valid california motor vehicle operator's license for certain positions
  • completion of child abuse mandated reporter training within six weeks of hire

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in food preparation and cooking
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to supervise and coordinate food service staff
  • basic math and measurement skills
  • good communication and teamwork abilities
  • ability to follow recipes and dietary restrictions

Job Duties

  • perform specialized and skilled tasks in the preparation and cooking of a variety of foods in a production food service facility
  • assist in the coordination and supervision of food service personnel
  • maintain production activities at a high level of quantity and quality
  • ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met
  • prepare foods according to established recipes and dietary guidelines
  • maintain cleanliness of workstations and kitchen equipment
  • assist with inventory management and supply ordering
