The part-time Kitchen Cook position available at the Ontario Convention Center is an integral role within the Food & Beverage department, reporting directly to the Executive Chef. This position offers a competitive hourly wage of $19.00 and is designed for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure culinary environments and are passionate about food preparation and guest satisfaction. The Kitchen Cook is responsible for preparing a variety of menu items efficiently, consistently, and with utmost attention to sanitation and safety standards. Duties include setting up stations, handling meat, seafood, poultry, vegetable, and cold food items, labeling and storing food correctly, maintaining inventory levels, and ensuring that portion sizes and cooking methods meet established quality criteria. The role demands strong teamwork, communication skills, and an ability to respond quickly to the dynamic needs of the kitchen.
In addition to essential cooking duties, the Kitchen Cook is expected to uphold excellent sanitation and hygiene practices, assist with cleaning and organizing kitchen areas, and accommodate special dietary requirements such as food allergies or intolerances. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who demonstrates responsibility through compliance with company policies, waste control guidelines, and the ability to adapt to additional tasks as assigned by kitchen management. The work environment can be physically demanding, involving standing for extended periods, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must exhibit a positive attitude, professional appearance, and a strong sense of initiative to contribute effectively to the team and enhance the overall guest experience at the Ontario Convention Center.

Job Requirements
- Must be minimum 18 years of age
- high school diploma or GED
- at least 1-year previous food service experience desired
- must be flexible with ability to respond quickly to issues
- working knowledge of food production, purchasing, and sanitation

- valid San Bernardino County Food Handlers Card required within 30 days of hire

Job Duties
- Set up stations and collect all necessary supplies to prepare menu for service
- prepare a variety of foods including meat, seafood, poultry, vegetable, and cold food items
- properly label and date food items for storage
- stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products to assure a smooth service period
- comply with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen policies
- use food preparation tools according to manufacturer instructions
- close the kitchen correctly and follow the closing checklist
- maintain a prepared and sanitary work area at all times
- assist with cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen and storage areas
- prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
- use safe and hygienic food handling practices
- keep workstation and equipment clean, organized, sanitized, and stocked
- use waste control guidelines and record all waste
- understand and maintain proper sanitation and food safety
- abide by company policies and code of conduct
- perform additional duties as assigned by Executive Chef or Chef
