As a part of this compassionate and driven community, the Outlook at Windhaven is currently inviting talented and dedicated individuals to join their team as Cook-On Call. This position is part-time and tailored to meet the dynamic needs of the kitchen whenever additional help is required due to demand. The role of Cook-On Call is vital in supporting the culinary operations that directly impact the residents' nutrition and overall well-being. Working in the kitchen of a senior living facility requires sensitivity, attention to detail, and a commitment to following specific dietary plans critical to the health of the residents.

The Cook-On Call is expected to prepare and cook meals according to menu specifications, recipes, and special dietary requirements such as therapeutic or puree diets. The ability to follow opening and closing kitchen procedures, maintain cleanliness and safety standards, and ensure all food is prepared with the highest quality is essential. This role demands more than just cooking skills; it requires dedication to service, a cooperative spirit, and a focus on improving the meal experience for residents, visitors, and staff alike.

Employing an individual with 2-3 years of cooking experience, preferably with some exposure to banquet or senior living cooking, this role offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $20.00 to $21.00. Job Qualifications

  • banquet cooking experience a plus
  • previous supervisory experience a plus

  • ability to understand recipes
  • ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English
  • ability to perform work tasks within physical demand requirements
  • ability to comply with Resident Bill of Rights and Employee Responsibilities
  • ability to comply with organizational and departmental safety policies and procedures

Job Duties

  • Model a service attitude towards others
  • take ownership in solving problems and take the initiative to make things better
  • be friendly and courteous to residents, patients and co-workers
  • ensure resident, patient, visitor, and co-worker safety by reporting safety hazards
  • maintain good attendance record and conform to scheduled work hours
  • perform all job duties safely
  • wear appropriate and assigned protective gear like apron and hair nets
  • follow opening and closing procedures
  • maintain standards of cleanliness including washing hands and food
  • prepare and cook resident meals in quantities and diet plans according to menu, recipes and number of persons served
  • be sure alternates are prepared
  • pull items needed according to production sheets and recipes for meal service
  • clean work area and equipment in accordance with sanitation requirements
  • perform final check of area to ensure cleanliness and correct storage
  • taste, smell, and observe food to ensure conformity with recipes and appearance
  • comply with standards established by department manager
  • monitor portion control guidelines for individual residents
  • follow posted Timeline Guides as assigned
  • perform other duties as assigned by Chef
