Job Requirements
- Direct deposit and social security card required
- meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements
- satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check
- males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
- position, duty hours, location, and/or activity subject to change
- work hours may involve weekends, weekdays, holidays, and night duty
- work involves standing, walking, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending
- must be able to lift or move objects up to 40 pounds unassisted
- occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance
- work performed in kitchen areas exposed to heat, noise, steam, fumes, odors, and temperature changes
- subject to burns, cuts, and slipping hazards
- completion of initial and annual food sanitation and safety training required
- subject to all pre-employment checks including medical examination
- may require Tier 1 background investigation for Common Access Card
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 months of work experience directly related to the duties
- skill in working with professional kitchen appliances and equipment
- ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
Job Duties
- Prepares and cooks a variety of menu items
- works alone or with assistance from higher-grade cooks or supervisors
- follows recipes to prepare soups, stews, casseroles, gravies, sauces, hot cereals, syrups, meatloaf, meatballs, hamburgers, and croquettes
- adjusts recipes for different quantities
- roasts meats such as beef, pork, veal, lamb, fish, and poultry
- grills and deep fries foods
- broils and steams foods
- slices meat by hand and mechanical means to specific requirements
- apportions foods for family style and plate service
- performs other duties as assigned
