Job Requirements

  • Direct deposit and social security card required
  • meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements
  • satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check
  • males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
  • position, duty hours, location, and/or activity subject to change
  • work hours may involve weekends, weekdays, holidays, and night duty
  • work involves standing, walking, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending
  • must be able to lift or move objects up to 40 pounds unassisted
  • occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance
  • work performed in kitchen areas exposed to heat, noise, steam, fumes, odors, and temperature changes
  • subject to burns, cuts, and slipping hazards
  • completion of initial and annual food sanitation and safety training required
  • subject to all pre-employment checks including medical examination
  • may require Tier 1 background investigation for Common Access Card

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months of work experience directly related to the duties
  • skill in working with professional kitchen appliances and equipment
  • ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English

Job Duties

  • Prepares and cooks a variety of menu items
  • works alone or with assistance from higher-grade cooks or supervisors
  • follows recipes to prepare soups, stews, casseroles, gravies, sauces, hot cereals, syrups, meatloaf, meatballs, hamburgers, and croquettes
  • adjusts recipes for different quantities
  • roasts meats such as beef, pork, veal, lamb, fish, and poultry
  • grills and deep fries foods
  • broils and steams foods
  • slices meat by hand and mechanical means to specific requirements
  • apportions foods for family style and plate service
  • performs other duties as assigned
