Job Requirements

- Must be available to work day, evening and weekend shifts depending on needs
- Must be willing to accept a flexible appointment
- Appointment subject to favorable suitability determination
- Work involves continual standing and walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending
- Must be able to lift or move objects up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally over 40 pounds with assistance
- Work performed in kitchen areas exposed to steam, fumes, odors and extreme temperature changes
- Must stand on tile floor subject to burns, cuts and slipping
- Must complete a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days and 4 hours refresher annually
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks including a medical examination
- May require Tier 1 background investigation for Common Access Card
Job Qualifications
- Work experience in preparing foods and cooking simple foods and short orders in a cafeteria, restaurant, or mess
- Demonstrated neatness and good grooming
- Dependability
- Ability to work under pressure
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook simple foods such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, vegetables, hot cereals, soups, sauces and gravies
- Prepare food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring, breading, weighing, measuring, assembling, and mixing ingredients according to recipes
- Operate kitchen equipment using gas, electricity, steam or microwave heat sources
- Disassemble, clean and assemble kitchen equipment following safety procedures
- Clean, store, and maintain all equipment and work areas
- Clean other work areas and equipment on an established cleaning schedule
- Cover, date, and store leftovers according to procedures
- Follow sanitation procedures when handling food
- Ensure proper food storage temperatures
- Perform other duties as assigned
