The Cook role at Aramark offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about food and cooking to bring creativity to life by working with fresh ingredients and state-of-the-art kitchen equipment. As a Cook, you will play an essential part in preparing a wide variety of dishes according to standardized recipes and production guidelines, ensuring consistency in taste and quality. Your day-to-day work involves measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, and peeling ingredients, operating various kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers, and applying various cooking methods including baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming. You will also be responsible for the aesthetically pleasing arrangement, garnishing, and portioning of food, ensuring that it meets established standards.

As a Cook, you will follow food safety policies rigorously to ensure proper storage and handling of food, while also maintaining clean and sanitized workstations and tools. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • experience as a cook or in a related role
  • knowledge of food safety guidelines and regulations
  • ability to follow standardized recipes and production guidelines
  • physical ability to perform lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended standing
  • ability to use kitchen equipment safely
  • strong attention to detail and commitment to sanitation
  • good communication skills
  • ability to work a Monday through Friday schedule with limited late nights or weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Experience as a cook or in a related role required
  • validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • must be able to acquire food safety certification
  • demonstrate basic math and counting skills
  • demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

Job Duties

  • Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • safely use a variety of utensils including knives
  • operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers
  • bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
  • arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines
  • properly store food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
  • clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers
  • adhere to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
  • ensure security of company assets
