The role of Cook at St. Joseph Health is integral to supporting patient, staff, and visitor well-being by preparing nutritious, safe, and delicious meals aligned with therapeutic dietary needs. As a Cook here, you will be working with various kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, ovens, fryers, steamers, stove tops, and grills, adjusting food preparation methods to accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions. Maintaining proper labeling and storage practices is critical to compliance with food safety regulations and facility guidelines. Cleaning and sanitation responsibilities are ongoing, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment in both cooking and serving areas. Job Requirements
- Minimum two years of experience in food services
- Food handler permit Texas within 30 days or ServSafe certification within 30 days
- One year of hospital experience preferred
- Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

Job Duties
- Champion food quality standards of appearance, taste, temperature and sanitation
- Prepare and serve food within guidelines of menu and dietary requirements, using required kitchen utensils and equipment such as slicers, mixers, ovens, fryers, steamers, stove tops, and grills, etc.
- Modify preparations to account for food allergies
- Maintain proper labeling of food products and ensure storage of food, equipment, and machinery per regulations and facility guidelines
- Perform washing and cleaning duties to ensure sanitation and cleanliness in cooking and serving areas
