Job Description

Wellmore of Lexington is a distinguished luxury senior living community that prides itself on creating a warm, supportive, and engaging environment for its residents and staff alike. Recognized as a Great Place to Work®, Wellmore of Lexington embodies its philosophy of "People First, Always," placing the well-being and growth of employees and residents at the heart of everything it does. This established community values teamwork, respect, and compassion and is committed to delivering exceptional care to seniors while fostering a vibrant workplace culture that promotes continuous personal and professional development. At Wellmore of Lexington, employees are not just workers; they are an integral part of a community dedicated to enriching the lives of seniors and making a positive impact every day.

Wellmore of Lexington is currently seeking a skilled Cook II with restaurant experience to join their culinary team. This position is crucial to the food service operation, responsible primarily for the bulk of food production within the community. The Cook II role demands a higher level of culinary skill, including proficiency in the seven methods of cooking and the ability to efficiently prepare soups, stocks, sauces, main dishes, starches, and vegetables. The ideal candidate will have a strong familiarity with kitchen stations, opening and closing procedures, and prep lists. They are expected to follow recipes accurately and demonstrate refined knife skills that meet chef standards.

The Cook II's responsibilities go beyond preparing meals; they ensure quality, presentation, and portion control standards conform to the high expectations of a luxury senior living environment. The role requires excellent time management, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both front- and back-of-house team members. Wellmore of Lexington emphasizes safety, compliance with food handling regulations, and maintaining up-to-date documentation, all while contributing to a positive, team-oriented atmosphere. The commitment to ongoing training and professional growth is a hallmark of this position, as the Cook II participates in planning, meetings, and educational programs to elevate their culinary expertise and contribute to the overall success of the dining experience.

This role not only demands technical culinary skills but also a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of seniors. The Cook II at Wellmore of Lexington embodies professionalism, ethics, and a people-first mindset that aligns with the company's core values. From managing physical demands such as long hours standing and lifting up to 50 pounds to navigating the emotional aspects of working in a senior living community, this position is both challenging and rewarding. No travel is expected regularly, but occasional training and education sessions may require attendance outside of the community.

Wellmore of Lexington fosters a collaborative and inclusive work environment where employees feel valued and supported. The Cook II will be joining a team that encourages innovation, flexibility, and effective communication, all essential to delivering an exceptional dining experience that enhances residents' quality of life. If you're passionate about culinary arts and eager to contribute to a community that treats every person with dignity and respect, Wellmore of Lexington offers a fulfilling career opportunity with room for growth and meaningful impact.
