Known for its laid-back vibe and celebrated surf culture, Dana Point offers an idyllic setting that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of southern California living. Overlooking the seaside from a 150-foot bluff, the resort sprawls over 175 acres and features more than 400 elegantly designed rooms, a vast 115,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting space, and eight diverse food and beverage outlets. These include four distinguished restaurants, a beach club, a lounge, a marketplace, and in-room dining services, all curated to deliver outstanding culinary and hospitality experiences.
As an establishment that exemplifies both luxury and comfort, the Waldorf Astoria is dedicated to creating unforgettable guest experiences while fostering meaningful professional growth opportunities for its team members. The resort’s prestigious awards, including the Forbes 4-Star and AAA 5-Diamond ratings, testify to its unwavering commitment to excellence and superior service.
The Cook II, Garde Manger role is an integral part of the resort’s culinary team, offering a unique opportunity for culinary professionals who thrive in a high paced, quality-driven environment. This position focuses on the preparation of cold food items, emphasizing not only culinary expertise but also the artistry and precision essential to gourmet food service. The Cook II will be responsible for preparing a variety of high-quality dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards, ensuring that each plate leaving the station reflects the Waldorf Astoria’s exacting standards of taste and presentation.
Beyond food preparation, the role involves managing guest orders efficiently to enhance the overall dining experience. The ability to execute advanced cooking techniques independently is essential, alongside the responsibility to inspect and finalize plates before service. Maintaining cleanliness, organization, and compliance with food safety regulations forms a critical part of daily operations, ensuring a safe and hygienic workspace for everyone involved.
This role also requires the multitasking ability to handle several orders simultaneously, participate in training activities, and undertake minor supervisory tasks as needed, contributing to the smooth operation of the culinary department. Committing to uphold regulatory standards, including health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness, is fundamental to this position, reaffirming the resort’s dedication to guest and team member well-being.
Joining the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club means becoming part of a globally renowned hospitality group that values integrity, leadership, teamwork, and ownership. As a Station Cook or Cook II, you will play a vital role in spreading the warmth and light of hospitality, delivering memorable dining experiences that brighten every guest’s stay. The resort is also known for investing in its employees’ well-being by offering a comprehensive benefits package and fostering a supportive work culture committed to professional growth and personal fulfillment.
