This opportunity is for a culinary role focused on food preparation and kitchen operations at The Ritz-Carlton. The position involves the preparation of ingredients including portioning, chopping, and storing food, as well as handling fresh produce through washing and peeling. The candidate will weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to standardized recipes, quality standards, and presentation expectations. Operating a variety of kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers will be part of the daily duties, along with testing food to ensure proper cooking and monitoring food quality throughout meal preparation.

The role requires meticulous attention to cleanliness and safety, ensuring that kitchen stations are properly set up and broken down, equipment and utensils are washed and disinfected, and food temperatures are monitored accurately. Strong adherence to company policies and safety regulations is essential, with responsibilities including reporting maintenance issues, accidents, and unsafe conditions, as well as completing necessary safety training and certifications. The culinary team member must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while preserving confidentiality and protecting company assets.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • At least 1 year of related work experience
  • No supervisory experience
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Ability to stand sit or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to follow safety and security policies and procedures

Job Duties

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking including portioning chopping and storing food
  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Weigh measure and mix ingredients
  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes quality standards presentation standards and food preparation checklist
  • Prepare cold foods
  • Operate ovens stoves grills microwaves and fryers
  • Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently
  • Monitor food quality while preparing food
  • Set-up and break down work station
  • Serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen area tables tools knives and equipment
  • Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food
