This position is a culinary role located within the on-site kitchen environment of The Ritz-Carlton hotel. It involves hands-on food preparation and cooking, adhering strictly to company recipes, quality benchmarks, and presentation standards. The role requires operating common kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers to prepare both hot and cold dishes. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen space is a critical responsibility, with tasks including washing and disinfecting kitchen tools, knives, tables, and equipment. The role also involves setting up and breaking down the workstation and ensuring all food is served in correct portions and proper receptacles.

The successful candidate must follow The Ritz-Carlton Gold Standards and safety policies rigorously while performing physically active tasks such as standing for prolonged periods, bending, twisting, lifting, and reaching. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • At least 1 year of related work experience preferred
  • Ability to follow recipes quality and presentation standards and food preparation checklists
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment ovens stoves grills microwaves fryers and test foods for doneness
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and disinfect kitchen areas tools knives and equipment
  • Ability to ensure proper food and appliance temperatures
  • Physical ability to stand sit or walk for extended periods or an entire shift
  • Ability to reach overhead and below the knees bend twist pull and stoop
  • Ability to move lift carry push pull and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Maintain professional appearance and confidentiality
  • Ability to report safety issues appropriately

Job Duties

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking including portioning chopping and storing food
  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Weigh measure and mix ingredients and prepare food according to recipes quality standards presentation standards and food preparation checklists
  • Prepare cold foods and operate ovens stoves grills microwaves and fryers
  • Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently and monitor food quality while preparing food
  • Set up and break down work station and serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen area tables tools knives and equipment and check ensure correctness of temperatures of appliances and food
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures
  • Report maintenance needs accidents injuries and unsafe work conditions to manager
  • Complete required safety training and certifications
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors
