Job Description

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is a reputable organization specializing in management and operation of correctional, detention, and rehabilitation facilities across the United States. With a strong commitment to improving communities and positively impacting lives, MTC operates the El Valle Detention Facility in Raymondville, Texas. This facility focuses on securing the safety of the community while providing a structured and supportive environment for those under its care. MTC prides itself on creating career opportunities that offer a meaningful work experience and encourage professional growth and development. The company upholds equal opportunity employment, discretion, and fair treatment for all employees irrespective of race, color, age, religion, sex, disability status, veteran status, or other protected categories by federal law. Additionally, MTC participates in E-Verify and is devoted to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities throughout their recruitment and employment processes.

The role available at the El Valle Detention Facility is that of a Food Service Worker, a full-time position with varying shifts. This role plays a critical part in the day-to-day operations of the facility by preparing meals according to pre-planned menus intended for non-citizens housed within the facility. The position offers a competitive wage of $19.22 per hour along with a $1500 hiring bonus. Employees receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance, 401(k) retirement plans, paid time off, paid holidays, an employee assistance program, and opportunities for job advancement.

In this position, the Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing and cooking food in large quantities as dictated by the menu and the number of individuals served. Ensuring the kitchen is maintained in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition is paramount, along with the upkeep and accountability of kitchen equipment and tools. The Food Service Worker will also supervise non-citizens assigned to assist in kitchen duties, highlighting the leadership aspect of the role. This role demands physical endurance to manage long periods of walking, standing, and pushing or pulling food carts.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent as the educational foundation. While food service training, one year of related experience, and prior supervisory experience are preferred, the company is willing to provide the necessary food handlers permit after hiring should it be required by Texas state regulations. The successful candidate must complete required preservice training and have a valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record unless waived by management. This role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in making a positive impact while developing their culinary and supervisory skills in a supportive work environment within the correctional facility system.
