The Mid-Level Cook position at Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass is a full-time, non-management role primarily involved in preparing high-quality meals during breakfast and lunch service. This role caters to a dynamic and fast-paced environment where food preparation needs to meet precise recipe standards, presentation guidelines, and quality assurance protocols. The cook is responsible for preparing ingredients by chopping, portioning, peeling, and mixing, as well as handling various cooking equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, and stoves to ensure food is cooked thoroughly and presented attractively. The role demands attention to safety and sanitation, including cleaning and disinfecting workstations and equipment, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and monitoring food temperature standards throughout the cooking process.
Ideal candidates for this role have at least one year of relevant work experience and should possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Job Duties
- prepare ingredients for cooking including portioning chopping and storing food
- wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables
- weigh measure and mix ingredients
- prepare and cook food according to recipes quality standards presentation standards and food preparation checklist
- operate ovens stoves grills microwaves and fryers
- test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently
- monitor food quality while preparing food
- set up and break down work station
- serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles
- wash and disinfect kitchen area tables tools knives and equipment
- check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food
- follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures
- report maintenance needs accidents injuries and unsafe work conditions to manager
- complete safety training and certifications
- ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
- develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
- support team to reach common goals
- ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards
- perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors
