At the heart of the company is a dedication to sustainability, social responsibility, and continuous improvement, ensuring that their operations positively impact both people and the planet.
The Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg location is currently seeking a full-time Cook II to join their dynamic and supportive team. Offering competitive pay ranging from $20 to $22 per hour, this role plays a critical part in Sodexo’s commitment to delivering exceptional food services within the healthcare environment. The position requires flexibility with varying shifts and days, alongside open availability, ensuring the ability to meet the demands of the hospital’s meal services throughout the day.
As a Cook II, you will be responsible for preparing and creating nutritious, appealing dishes that meet the dietary needs and preferences of hospital patients, staff, and visitors. Your role will go beyond simple food preparation; you will be a key player in reducing food waste and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment. Customer service is central to this position, and a friendly demeanor coupled with a passion for food will significantly enhance the dining experience for all patrons. Duties include efficiently preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a range of hot and cold food items across multiple meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events.
The position demands adherence to recipes and product directions to ensure consistency and quality. Some shifts may require you to operate a grill station or prepare food for a la carte service, showcasing your versatility and culinary skills. Additionally, you may be called upon to support management by overseeing daily kitchen operations and guiding fellow kitchen staff when necessary. Punctuality and reliability are essential, as is a commitment to maintaining a healthy and safe working environment that aligns with Sodexo’s high standards.
Sodexo values team players who are adaptable and dependable, with 3 to 4 years of related cooking experience preferred. The company offers a flexible and supportive work atmosphere that helps employees balance their personal and professional lives, alongside ongoing training and development opportunities to advance careers within the organization. This role is perfect for those who thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting and who want to make a meaningful impact through their work in food service. Joining Sodexo means becoming part of a company that not only feeds but also nurtures communities, emphasizing wellbeing, inclusion, and respect for all its members.
