This role is a full-time position involving rotating shifts to support the hospital’s food service department. The position requires the team member to work various shift hours including early mornings, mid-mornings to afternoons, and late afternoons to evenings, with rotating weekends and holiday duties. Employees in this role are eligible for shift pay differentials, reflecting the varied hours and responsibilities of the position. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform supervised tasks related to food preparation, ensuring the production and delivery of both regular and therapeutic diets tailored to patient requirements. This involves utilizing foundational cooking skills, operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace to meet health and safety standards.

The ideal candidate for this role will be familiar with local health regulations and safety protocols essential for preparing safe food for patient consumption. The role demands physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks such as reaching, standing for extended periods, squatting, bending, as well as carrying or lifting supplies and equipment weighing up to 35 pounds frequently. Team members must also be capable and willing to wear protective clothing and equipment like gowns, gloves, goggles, and rubber-soled closed-toe footwear to comply with environmental and governmental safety requirements. While prior food service experience is preferred, it is not mandatory, and high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is desirable but not strictly required.
