The Cook I position at City of Hope is an essential role within the foodservice operations that supports patient care and employee wellbeing by providing high-quality, nutritious meals tailored to various dietary needs. This role encompasses the accurate preparation, portioning, cooking, and presentation of diverse hot and cold food items across multiple meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • Ability to follow federal, state and local food safety regulations
  • Capacity to work flexible hours including special events
  • Ability to lift and move food supplies and equipment
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience
  • Knowledge of basic food preparation and cooking techniques

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook to order foods for various meal periods
  • Prepare food and serve customers at a la carte and operate grill station
  • Prepare food following federal, state and City of Hope standards
  • Read food orders or receive verbal instructions and cook according to requirements
  • Prepare meals for customers requiring special diets
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times
  • Clean and sanitize work stations and equipment
