Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum one year experience in commercial production food service
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and multiplication
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Food handlers certification within six months of hire
  • Relevant hospital or large institution kitchen experience preferred
  • Effective communication skills
  • Customer service skills

Job Duties

  • Communicates and reviews menu and special orders daily with supervisors and team members in a professional and supportive manner to determine production schedule and food quantities
  • Follows standardized recipes for all food preparation
  • Reads production tally/menu and organizes workload to meet specified deadlines and quantity requirements
  • Maintains proper workflow during line cooking
  • Adheres to guidelines for storage, handling, and preparation of food and sanitation of work areas
  • Reports equipment problems to supervisor
  • Ensures food preparation areas are clean, sanitized, and orderly at all times using proper chemical and sanitation techniques
