The Cook I role in the Dining Services Production department at MD Anderson Cancer Center holds a vital position in supporting the institution\'s mission by ensuring high-quality nutrition and food services to patients, guests, and visitors. As a Cook I, the individual is responsible for executing all short-order cooking assignments promptly and efficiently in their designated venue. Key duties include thorough cleaning and sanitizing of all kitchen equipment and work areas daily, managing daily food rotation using First In, First Out (FIFO) methods, and reporting spoiled or substandard products to supervisors immediately to prevent compromise in food safety. Further accountability involves accurately preparing food items from standardized recipes, conducting inventories on leftover products, distributing leftover food in strict accordance with protocol, and meticulously recording all product transactions. Cross-training opportunities emphasize versatility and adaptability, requiring the Cook I to be ready for reassignment across various locations or shifts based on operational needs. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of related experience in a high-volume food service environment
  • Must obtain Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to comply with all safety and sanitation standards
  • Must pass background and security screening as required by MD Anderson Cancer Center

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of related experience in a high-volume food service environment
  • Texas Food Handlers Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire

Job Duties
