The role of Line Cook at Kingsley Manor is pivotal to the success of the community's dining experience. Under the supervision of the Director of Dining Services or Executive Chef, the Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals and specialty items for residents and employees. This is a hands-on culinary role that requires skill and precision in handling various cooking methods, including broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing, and baking. The Line Cook ensures that food quality, portion sizes, and presentation meet established standards, contributing to a positive dining atmosphere. Key responsibilities include preparing a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, and vegetables, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the work stations, and complying with all health codes and safety regulations. The role also involves providing excellent customer service to residents, families, co-workers, and vendors, fostering a respectful and friendly environment. Safety is a top priority, with employees required to follow strict safety protocols and use appropriate safety equipment. Ongoing participation in mandatory in-service training sessions ensures that the Line Cook stays current with all policies and procedures. Job Requirements

Job Duties
- Cook 1 line
- provides quality customer service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors
- prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items using broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and other kitchen equipment
- assumes 100% responsibility for quality of products served
- complies consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules
- stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations
- portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
- maintains a clean and sanitary work station including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment
- prepares items for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and marinating
- follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up
- handles, stores and rotates products properly
- assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed
- follows highest standards of cleanliness and food safety
- adheres to safety standards and wears safety equipment
- attends all mandatory in-service meetings
- complies with all department and facility policies and procedures
- understands and follows facility's fire and disaster plans
- commits to accident prevention and safe work habits
