Job Description
Marriott International is a leading global hospitality company renowned for its dedication to exceptional service and luxury accommodations. Among its prestigious brands is The Ritz-Carlton, a symbol of the highest standards in luxury hospitality worldwide. The Ritz-Carlton properties, found in over 100 locations globally, are recognized for their commitment to creating memorable experiences through meticulous attention to detail and a culture that values creativity, thoughtfulness, and compassion. Marriott International fosters a workplace environment that celebrates diversity and inclusion, offering equal employment opportunities without discrimination on any protected basis. Employees at Marriott and The Ritz-Carlton are empowered to be their best selves and contribute meaningfully to the company’s success, guided by core values such as the Gold Standards, Employee Promise, Credo, and Service Values.
The role in question is a culinary position within The Ritz-Carlton’s kitchen team. The individual will be responsible for preparing special meals or substitute items catering to specific dietary or guest requests, ensuring all dishes meet the brand's exacting standards of quality, presentation, and taste. This position requires hands-on food preparation tasks such as regulating oven, broiler, grill, and roaster temperatures to maintain cooking precision and pulling food from freezer storage to thaw properly in refrigerators. Maintaining the appropriate portion control, food arrangement, garnish, and logging food inventory are essential duties. The role requires continuous monitoring of food quality and quantity to reduce waste and maintain guest satisfaction.
Furthermore, this culinary role demands effective communication with kitchen leadership and food and beverage service staff regarding menu specials and stock levels. The individual must promptly inform the Chef of any excess food items for daily specials, thus contributing to efficiency and creativity in the kitchen. Cold food preparation and strict adherence to recipes and quality standards are also critical responsibilities. This position assists management in various human resources functions, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, motivating, and coaching team members. Serving as a role model, the employee will exemplify professionalism in appearance and conduct while following all corporate safety, security, and confidentiality policies.
Physical demands of the job include standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, and performing physical activities like bending, twisting, lifting, pushing, and carrying up to 25 pounds. Employees must maintain a clean and professional uniform and work environment while protecting company assets. The position's work environment encourages fostering positive relationships among coworkers, anticipating and addressing guest needs, and maintaining clear and professional communication.
Preferred qualifications for the role include education from a technical, trade, or vocational school and at least three years of related work experience. While no prior supervisory experience is required, successful candidates will actively support team goals and contribute to a collaborative workplace.
Joining The Ritz-Carlton team means becoming part of a global family dedicated to luxury hospitality excellence. This role offers an opportunity to uphold and live the Gold Standards that define The Ritz-Carlton’s unmatched brand reputation. Employees are encouraged to grow in a supportive culture that values each individual's contribution and promotes career advancement within Marriott International's portfolio of brands.
