The Cook I position at Sodexo, located at UC Health Memorial Hospital North, offers part-time employment with a competitive pay range of $20.50 to $22.96 per hour. This role is integral to Sodexo's culinary team, particularly in healthcare settings where food quality and safety are paramount. The Cook I is responsible for preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold food items in line with Sodexo's established culinary standards. This includes ensuring the consistent quality, presentation, and taste of meals served across all meal periods and special events.
Working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, the Cook I must demonstrate efficiency and accuracy while maintaining cleanliness and organization at their workstation. This position demands adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols to guarantee safe food service. The Cook I supports the overall mission of providing an exceptional dining experience by collaborating effectively with kitchen staff and contributing to a positive team atmosphere.
The role requires flexibility in shift availability as shifts can occur at any time, necessitating open availability. It also involves physical demands such as standing for extended periods, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing repetitive motions safely and efficiently. The Cook I’s day-to-day responsibilities may vary depending on client needs and business requirements, highlighting the importance of adaptability.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
- 0 to 2 years of related work experience
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to perform repetitive motions
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Must attend work on time and regularly
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience

- Knowledge of basic kitchen equipment operation
- Familiarity with food-handling procedures
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Good working knowledge of food preparation
- Ability to read and follow recipes independently
Job Duties
- Prepare food in accordance with federal, state, and corporate standards
- Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving various foods
- Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Perform repetitive motions
- Attend work regularly and on time
