Job Duties
- Cook food in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served
- confer with other personnel to determine quantity and types of ingredients and number of portions
- roast, fry, boil, broil and season meats, fish, poultry, vegetables and other foods
- measure and mix ingredients according to recipes
- determine type or amount of ingredient substitutions in recipes
- evaluate food quality, quantity, appearance, temperature and taste
- operate kitchen equipment such as cutlery, grinders and slicers
- weigh portions for uniformity
- store food at proper temperatures
- sharpen cooking tools
- clean and sterilize cooking equipment and work areas
- place prepared food in carts for delivery
- transport food from kitchen to serving area
