Job Description
Holy Cross Hospital, located in Maryland, is a reputable healthcare facility committed to providing exceptional medical services and compassionate patient care. Partnering with Sodexo, a global leader in food service and facilities management, Holy Cross Hospital ensures that every aspect of the patient and staff experience is attended to with the highest standards of quality and professionalism. Sodexo, with its mission to create a better everyday experience for everyone, offers integrated solutions that improve the quality of life for the communities it serves.
At Holy Cross Hospital, the role of Cook I is essential in delivering high-quality food services within a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role involves preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold food items for all meal periods and special events while adhering to Sodexo's culinary standards for quality, presentation, and consistency. The Cook I position can be full-time or part-time, with pay ranging from $19.00 to $20.00 per hour, and offers varying shifts with open availability preferred to meet the dynamic needs of the hospital's food service operations.
As a Cook I, you will be expected to work efficiently in a busy kitchen setting, maintaining a clean and organized workstation and ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are met at all times. This role supports Sodexo's commitment to providing an exceptional dining experience, contributing to effective teamwork in the kitchen, and delivering quality dishes that comply with federal, state, and corporate regulations. You will be preparing food items by following recipes and product directions for cooking, seasoning, tasting, carving, and serving a wide range of menu items including soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and more.
Physical stamina is required in this role, as it involves significant walking or mobility, standing for extended periods (often over eight hours per shift), and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions independently, and a dedication to punctuality and reliability are key for success in this position.
Sodexo provides a flexible and supportive work environment, with opportunities for ongoing training, development, and career advancement. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, holidays, tuition reimbursement, 401k plans, discount programs, and potentially site-specific perks such as free meals, uniforms, safety shoes, and transportation support. Sodexo values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity employment, fostering a culture of respect where employees are encouraged to bring their full selves to work. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to join a company that values purpose-driven work and aims to improve the everyday lives of those they serve.
