The Cook I role at City of Hope plays a vital part in supporting this mission by ensuring the high-quality preparation and presentation of food items in various meal settings including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events. Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- 0 to 2 years of related kitchen or food preparation experience
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Basic culinary skills
- Good physical condition to lift and move supplies
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Flexibility to work various shifts including special event hours

Job Duties
- Prepare and cook to order foods for various meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events
- Operate grill station and serve customers a la carte as needed
- Prepare meals in compliance with federal, state, and City of Hope food safety standards
- Read food orders and prepare according to instructions
- Prepare meals for customers requiring special diets
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times
- Follow recipes and product directions to prepare, season, cook, taste, carve, and serve foods
- Operate kitchen equipment for food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting, and shredding
- Produce batch goods using basic cooking techniques
- Taste products, check menu requirements, estimate production needs, and keep records for supply requisition
- Clean and sanitize work stations and equipment following regulatory rules and procedures
- Attend allergy and foodborne illness training, participate in safety meetings and training programs
- Receive inventory and move/lift foodstuffs and supplies as needed
