We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our Food and Beverage team. This is a full-time, non-management position at the Renaissance Austin Hotel, offering a competitive pay rate of $22.54 per hour. The role is pivotal in maintaining the consistency and quality of the culinary offerings by preparing special meals and ensuring all dishes meet or exceed our culinary standards. The successful candidate will have responsibility for regulating the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters, ensuring that each food item is cooked to perfection. Additionally, this position requires pulling items from freezer storage and thawing them correctly, monitoring food quality and quantity, and ensuring proper portion sizes and arrangement with appropriate garnishing.

As a Cook at Renaissance Austin Hotel, you will be integral in communicating needs during busy periods and coordinating with the Chef regarding excess food items and daily specials. You will also play a role in informing the Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and items that may be out of stock. The ability to prepare cold foods and follow detailed recipes, food preparation checklists, and presentation standards is essential. This role extends beyond cooking, encompassing assisting management with employee-related functions such as hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, and motivation, thereby fostering a positive and efficient team environment.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of maintaining high safety and security standards within the kitchen. You will be expected to wear a professional uniform, maintain personal appearance, and protect company assets while ensuring all proprietary information remains confidential. Physical demands include the ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and moving objects up to 25 pounds without assistance.
