Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Municipality of Anchorage General Food Service Worker’s Card
  • One (1) year food service experience or equivalent for Cook I
  • Three (3) years food service experience or equivalent for Cook II
  • Five (5) years food service experience or equivalent for Cook III
  • ServSafe certification issued by the National Restaurant Association or eligibility to obtain within one year for Cook II
  • Driver's license for delivery positions
  • Ability to comply with local, state and federal health, safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to work varying schedules including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Skill in problem solving
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Associates Degree in Food Service Management or Culinary Arts or equivalent (for Cook II and III, education can be substituted on a year-for-year basis for relevant experience)
  • One (1) year food service experience or equivalent (Cook I)
  • Three (3) years food service experience or equivalent (Cook II)
  • Five (5) years food service experience or equivalent (Cook III)
  • Valid Municipality of Anchorage General Food Service Worker’s Card
  • ServSafe certification issued by the National Restaurant Association (Cook II and III, or eligible to obtain within one year from hire for Cook II)
  • Driver's license (for delivery positions)
  • Skill in working independently and in a group setting
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Skill in problem solving
  • Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation
  • Knowledge of basic kitchen equipment operation
  • Experience in restaurants, catering, or institutions such as schools, hospitals, or cafeterias is preferred
  • Ability to perform multitasking effectively

Job Duties

  • Prepares meal ingredients as directed by Sous Chef or Chef Manager
  • Prepares items following proprietary recipes as provided
  • Follows portion guidelines or communicates information to servers
  • Follows all department food handling, food safety and food storage policies
  • May assist with receiving freight, inspecting deliveries, and storage of raw ingredients and supplies, following HACCP procedures and maintaining clean storage environments
  • May be responsible for running dish machine and washing all wares
  • May be responsible to sweep and mop
  • Leaves workstation clean, neat, organized and sanitized
  • Interactions with guests in the serving, retail and dining areas in a positive and welcoming manner
  • Reports feedback to leadership any issues, for example concerning quality of food, safety hazards, guest concerns and or broken equipment
  • Attends training programs (classroom and or virtual) as assigned
  • Varying schedule to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as the business dictates
  • Complies with all company safety prevention and reporting of issues and or concerns
  • Report all injuries and accidents in a timely manner
  • Complies with all local, state and Federal rules and regulations in health, safety and sanitation, including HACCP policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
