Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior kitchen or cooking experience preferred
  • knowledge of cooking techniques such as charbroiling, poaching, deep-frying, sauté, braising, roasting and par-cooking
  • understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen
  • ability to follow health department and company food handling standards
  • ability to work part-time and on temporary basis
  • physical stamina to stand and work for extended periods
  • commitment to professional appearance and conduct

Job Qualifications

  • prior experience in food preparation or cooking preferred
  • knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation practices
  • ability to follow detailed recipes and instructions

Job Duties

  • prepare, cook and serve food as directed by the chef in charge
  • comply with food safety act, portion control and presentation standards
  • demonstrate proficiency in charbroiling, poaching, deep-frying, sauté, braising, roasting and par-cooking
  • recognize quality standards in fresh vegetables, fish, dairy and meat products
  • use herbs and spices properly
  • maintain clean and sanitary environment with proper handling, storage and sanitation
  • prepare food for conferences following banquet event orders
  • prepare and service food for Metro Cafe and food truck
  • breakdown buffets and kitchen lines
  • store food and equipment properly at the end of each meal period
  • work banquet food stations as scheduled
  • follow all health department and company regulations
  • maintain professional personal appearance and dress appropriately
