Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- prior kitchen or cooking experience preferred
- knowledge of cooking techniques such as charbroiling, poaching, deep-frying, sauté, braising, roasting and par-cooking
- understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations
- ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen
- ability to follow health department and company food handling standards
- ability to work part-time and on temporary basis
- physical stamina to stand and work for extended periods
- commitment to professional appearance and conduct
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in food preparation or cooking preferred
- knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation practices
- ability to follow detailed recipes and instructions
- effective communication skills
- ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- flexibility to work various shifts and schedules
Job Duties
- prepare, cook and serve food as directed by the chef in charge
- comply with food safety act, portion control and presentation standards
- demonstrate proficiency in charbroiling, poaching, deep-frying, sauté, braising, roasting and par-cooking
- recognize quality standards in fresh vegetables, fish, dairy and meat products
- use herbs and spices properly
- maintain clean and sanitary environment with proper handling, storage and sanitation
- prepare food for conferences following banquet event orders
- prepare and service food for Metro Cafe and food truck
- breakdown buffets and kitchen lines
- store food and equipment properly at the end of each meal period
- work banquet food stations as scheduled
- follow all health department and company regulations
- maintain professional personal appearance and dress appropriately
