The Cook position at Hope Hotel and Richard C. Holbrooke Conference Center plays a critical role in maintaining high culinary standards and supporting the kitchen team to deliver food of consistently excellent quality. This role requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and collaboration with food and beverage staff to provide a seamless dining experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing food according to recipe cards and portion standards, ensuring food safety and proper handling, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
This position is essential in managing food inventory, controlling food waste, and upholding health standards through proper food rotation and storage. The Cook will operate and maintain various kitchen equipment such as deep fryers, broilers, stoves, steamers, mixers, ovens, and grills. Physical stamina is important for this role, as it involves standing for extended periods and handling items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Job Duties
- follows recipe cards and portion standards
- prepares food ahead of time, making sure not to over-prepare estimated needs
- dates all food containers and rotates them, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures
- assists in setting up plans and takes action to correct any food cost problems
- controls food waste, loss and usage
- operates, maintains and properly cleans deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill
- complies with attendance rules and is available to work on a regular basis
- completes duties and confirms on shift checklist as assigned
- has the ability to stand for long periods and lift at least 25 lbs
- performs various other duties as assigned by Supervisor
