Bridgeport Hospital is seeking a Cook to join its culinary team under the direction of the Executive Chef. This role is pivotal in preparing and distributing food that meets established nutritional and quality standards for patients, staff, and visitors. The Cook will utilize standardized recipe cards and production sheets to ensure accurate quantity and quality of food preparation. The position demands a commitment to maintaining high food safety and sanitation practices, assuring the safety of all individuals within the hospital environment. The Cook is also expected to engage in teamwork and uphold the values of the hospital in every aspect of their work.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • One year related experience
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to read and speak English
  • Successful completion of hospital orientation
  • Successful completion of department orientation
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to stand and walk for 6 to 8 hours
  • Must be able to pull and push carts and equipment for 6 to 8 hours

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Maintains established standards for high food quality by using recipe cards and teamwork to provide utmost customer satisfaction
  • Prepares assigned recipes according to production sheets and special requests
  • Maintains appropriate sanitation in service and prep areas to assure a sanitary working environment
  • Assures safety of patients, staff, and visitors through enforcement of department safety policies
  • Performs additional assignments as required by supervisor or manager
