Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous cooking experience preferred
  • ability to follow standardized recipes and food safety guidelines
  • good customer service skills
  • ability to work effectively in a team
  • knowledge of kitchen equipment operation
  • basic understanding of food preparation and hygiene standards
  • strong attention to detail and cleanliness
  • ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and standing for long periods

Job Duties

  • prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules
  • serve meals or prepare for delivery by using correct portioning, ensuring food is at the correct temperature and attractive
  • taste all prepared food items to ensure quality
  • clean kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • store or discard excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
  • keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat
  • operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed
  • assist in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required
  • assist in ordering and receiving food and supplies as required
  • report needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents immediately
  • attend in-service and safety meetings
  • maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers
  • perform job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • ensure proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures following HACCP standards
