Job Description

This Cook position is based at the SCAD location in Savannah, Georgia, offering both full-time and part-time schedules. The role requires availability for varied hours, including PM, weekend, and holiday shifts, catering to the dynamic scheduling needs of a busy foodservice environment. Compensation for this role ranges from $16.00 to $19.25 per hour, with additional premiums available for PM and weekend shifts. The primary responsibility of the Cook will be preparing high-quality food items in accordance with federal, state, and Bon Appetit’s corporate standards. This involves cooking from scratch using fresh, local ingredients and following standardized recipes to ensure consistency and food safety. The Cook will manage portioning, temperature control, and presentation to guarantee meals are attractive and delicious. Additional duties include maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen workspace, proper storage of food and supplies, and operating kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
The role requires a strong commitment to quality and adherence to HACCP standards and other safety protocols, such as the use of personal protective equipment including cut gloves, oven mitts, and slip-resistant shoes. Reporting maintenance issues and attending in-service safety meetings are also important responsibilities. The Cook will play a supportive role in production planning, record keeping, ordering, and receiving supplies, contributing to the smooth operation of the kitchen.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior cooking experience preferred
- Availability for PM, weekend and holiday shifts required
- Ability to read and follow recipes
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Must be able to perform physical tasks associated with kitchen work
- ServSafe certification preferred

Job Duties
- Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules
- Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
- Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
- Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat
- Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
- Assists in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required
