Currently, Morrison Healthcare is actively hiring for a full-time Cook position at the THOP Sierra location in El Paso, TX. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, nutritious meals that align with federal, state, and corporate standards and regulations. The Cook will be responsible for preparing food items precisely according to standardized recipes, adhering to safety and cleanliness protocols, and maintaining the optimal presentation and temperature of all meals served. Working Monday through Friday with varying hours, including weekends, this position requires an individual who can work effectively within a team environment, demonstrate personal accountability for safety, and maintain excellent communication with coworkers, managers, and healthcare staff. Experience in a healthcare cooking setting is mandatory, highlighting the need for specialized expertise in nutritious meal preparation for patient populations. The compensation range for the role is $15.00 to $17.00 per hour, reflecting the importance of skill and reliability in this position. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year previous cooking experience in a healthcare setting
  • Ability to work full-time including varied hours and weekends
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Compliance with company safety policies including use of gloves and slip-resistant shoes
  • Willingness to attend in-service and safety meetings
  • Maintain personal commitment to safety and cleanliness
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year cooking experience in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and instructions
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and comply with safety protocols
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work flexible hours including weekends
  • Commitment to quality and attention to detail

Job Duties

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring food is at correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
  • Tastes all prepared food items
  • Uses established ticket collection procedures during service
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat
  • Ensures food and supply items are stored per standards
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed
  • Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required
  • Assists in ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required
  • Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to supervisor immediately
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers
  • Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of serving temperatures following HACCP standards
  • Practices personal commitment to safety and abides by all company policies and procedures
