The full-time Cook position at Del Amo Behavioral Health System plays an essential role in supporting patient care by preparing nutritious and safe meals for patients, staff, and hospital personnel. This critical role involves maintaining the Food Services Department in a sanitary manner while adhering strictly to health and safety standards. The Cook’s responsibilities include preparing food according to prescribed nutritional requirements and dietary restrictions, supporting the hospital’s overall mission of delivering quality care through efficient food service. The position requires someone who is adaptable and willing to work flexible hours when necessary to meet the demands of patient census and other operational needs. Working within a multidisciplinary team environment, the Cook must demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions. Job Requirements

  • High school education diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience as a cook or cook's helper in an institutional food service facility required
  • Ability to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures
  • Strong verbal, reading and written communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary team members
  • Math skills to calculate recipes and diets
  • Willingness to work flexible hours when necessary
  • Adherence to facility and department policies and compliance with corporate standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
