We are currently hiring for full-time Cook positions at Lafayette General, located at 1214 Coolidge Street, Lafayette, LA 70503. This role is a critical part of our food and nutrition services team, responsible for preparing high-quality meals in compliance with federal, state, and corporate food safety and quality standards. The Cook position offers a full-time schedule with hours and days that may vary, with more details provided during the interview process. Compensation ranges from $12.00 to $17.00 per hour, making it a competitive opportunity for experienced culinary professionals.

The Cook role is designed for individuals with a passion for food preparation and a commitment to maintaining exceptional standards within a dynamic healthcare environment. Candidates must have at least five years of cooking experience, demonstrating proficiency in preparing food according to standardized recipes and ensuring meals are delivered timely, attractively plated, and served at the correct temperatures. Attention to detail is paramount, as cooks are responsible for tasting food for quality control, employing ticket collection procedures during service, and maintaining meticulous records related to their service area.

Beyond food preparation, the Cook maintains cleanliness and safety within the kitchen by adhering to high sanitation standards, cleaning kitchen spaces, properly storing food items, and operating kitchen equipment safely and effectively. The role supports production planning, inventory management, ordering, and receiving supplies, ensuring seamless kitchen operations. The position also demands compliance with all health and safety policies, including proper use of protective gloves and footwear, safe lifting techniques, and participation in safety and in-service meetings.
