Job Requirements

  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
  • Experience with modified diets is a plus
  • Ability to work full time including varying shifts between early morning and late afternoon
  • Ability to meet food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to perform physical tasks required for kitchen work including lifting and standing for extended periods
  • Willingness to follow company safety policies and procedures including use of protective gloves and equipment
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others
  • Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous healthcare cooking experience preferred
  • Experience with modified diets is a plus
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and portion control
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment
  • Capability to maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to HACCP standards
  • Ability to perform duties in a timely and efficient manner

Job Duties

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning and maintaining proper temperature
  • Uses established ticket collection procedures during service
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness
  • Stores or discards excess food according to safe food-handling procedures
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment
  • Assists in production planning, record keeping, and reporting
  • Assists in ordering and receiving all food and supplies
  • Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings
  • Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers
  • Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Ensures proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures
  • Follows HACCP standards
  • Adheres to company policies regarding safety and equipment use
  • Uses protective gloves and equipment when handling sharp tools and hot items
  • Uses slip-resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques
  • Performs other duties as assigned
