As a well-established community, Sunshine Retirement Living offers various roles that contribute to the smooth functioning of its facilities and the overall resident experience.
The position of Cook within Sunshine Retirement Living is an hourly, non-exempt role aimed at preparing nutritious, appetizing, and visually attractive meals that meet the dietary and portion control requirements set by the community. This position plays a crucial role in the Food Services department by working collaboratively with other team members to ensure the kitchen operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all health and safety standards. The Cook is responsible for executing menu plans, adhering to recipes, managing food safety procedures, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the kitchen and food preparation areas. Beyond meal preparation, the Cook ensures that food supplies and personnel are adequately available for planned meals, serves food attractively and punctually, and follows procedures for food storage and temperature logging to guarantee the quality and safety of all meals served. The Cook also addresses any resident concerns related to food and assists with special functions when necessary. The position requires maintaining confidentiality concerning business operations and following all sanitation practices diligently. Furthermore, the Cook must meet all applicable state requirements, including possessing a current food handler's permit and other certifications necessary to comply with state regulations.
Overall, this position offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the resident experience by ensuring that every meal is nutritious, safely prepared, and enjoyable. The role of Cook is integral to the Food Services department, ensuring the community operates smoothly and upholds its commitment to quality resident care. The hiring company promotes equal employment opportunities and adheres to pay equity laws, reflecting its dedication to fairness, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace. Candidates must be prepared to work in a physically active environment that involves standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing tasks requiring fine manipulation and physical endurance.
