Job Duties
- Interacts in a positive, professional manner with patients, family and staff
- communicates clearly and professionally to promote both work efforts and problem resolution
- works with Sr Cook and catering staff to ensure timely, high-quality food preparation and efficient transfer
- notifies management of menu changes due to spoilage or shortage
- contributes towards improvement of department employee engagement
- prepares food according to standardized recipes and schedules
- tastes food for quality prior to service
- reviews menus and prepares supplies in advance
- portions and garnishes food as instructed
- inspects food quality and freshness
- discards expired food
- labels and dates stored items
- ensures proper rotation of food
- reports and corrects improper food and equipment temperatures
- assists in monitoring and recording temperatures
- follows safety techniques and maintains sanitation
- practices good cost control and minimizes food waste
- manages time effectively and prioritizes tasks
- assists with new menu item development
- seeks personal development and updates development plan
