The role of Head Cook at Gate Gourmet is a pivotal position within the culinary team, responsible for overseeing the preparation and cooking of various food items according to precise recipes and airline specifications. This role involves not only cooking but also leading and monitoring the production efforts of the kitchen staff to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to safety standards. The Head Cook assembles equipment, packages beverages for flights, and maintains strict sanitation compliance in the production areas. As a Head Cook, you will be an essential member of the team tasked with supporting Hot Food leadership by monitoring production quality and efficiency, ensuring that all food items meet the required temperature standards, and completing necessary documentation related to inventory and food safety logs. The role demands a hands-on approach to handling diverse food products, including seafood, poultry, beef, pork, fruits, and vegetables, and requires proficiency in using kitchen tools and knives safely and effectively.

Job Requirements

- handle knives and kitchen tools properly

Job Qualifications
- Culinary degree and/or cook certification is preferred
- at least 2 years of experience cooking in a high volume institutional catering environment is preferred
- experience with maintaining temperature logs for all food items prepared
- recipe conversion experience required to accommodate the kitchen’s daily production needs
- read, write, and follow food specifications and menu guidelines
- communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers
Job Duties
- Assembles equipment according to airline specifications following procedures and assembly diagrams
- packages and prepares alcoholic beverages for airline flights
