Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years cooking experience in healthcare or hospitality industries or Associate degree in culinary arts with one year experience
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to read and tell time
  • Ability to perform basic math functions
  • Ability to perform both batch and inline cooking
  • Ability to demonstrate culinary skills and knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Ability to work standing and walking most of the day
  • Willingness to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Capability to handle kitchen environmental hazards such as heat, cold, steam, and chemicals

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years cooking experience in healthcare or hospitality industries or Associate degree in culinary arts with one year experience
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to perform basic math functions and read time
  • Knowledge of batch and inline cooking methods
  • Culinary skills with knowledge of relevant equipment and standards

Job Duties

  • Prepare, measure, season, cook, assemble and serve foods for patients, residents, staff, and visitors
  • Follow standardized recipes and menu guidelines to ensure food consistency
  • Adhere to cooking temperatures and safe food handling practices
  • Perform cleaning and sanitizing duties on work areas, equipment, and wares
  • Transport equipment, meals, and supplies to various hospital destinations according to requests
  • Demonstrate culinary skills including broil, grill, bake, roast, fry, sauté, puree, and poach
  • Promote and maintain a positive service culture within the kitchen and dining environment
