The role of the Cook at Kettering Health, based in Troy, is a crucial position responsible for preparing and cooking food that meets the nutritional requirements of patients, employees, and visitors. The responsibilities include preparing meals in accordance with established recipes, managing food storage properly by following FDA guidelines on dating and temperature control, and carefully maintaining workstations and kitchen equipment. The Cook will be an active team member, collaborating with other staff including Cafeteria team members, Dish Room staff, Supervisors, and Physician Lounge attendants to promote a positive and efficient work environment.
This role requires someone who is physically capable of standing and walking for extended periods, comfortable working around kitchen equipment that produces heat, steam, and cold, and able to follow oral and written directions meticulously. The Cook will exhibit proficiency in knife skills and demonstrate the ability to cook from scratch, ideally bringing experience from cooking or baking backgrounds, with a special preference for restaurant cooking experience, be it a la carte or scratch-based methods. - Cooks and seasons food according to established recipes

- Accurately manages position paperwork including recipes and forecasting documents

- Utilizes appropriate scripting and responds to patients and internal/external customers professionally
- Safely uses and cleans kitchen equipment and performs sanitation procedures
- Ensures correct date-marking, monitors temperature control and food storage
- Prepares, assembles, serves, cooks, or bakes food and beverages meeting service deadlines
