The Cook role is dynamic, evolving based on the client’s requirements and business needs at different Aramark locations. You will be responsible for setting up your workstation, preparing ingredients with precision, and employing various cooking techniques such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming. Your creativity will also show in how you garnish and portion dishes according to established guidelines. Job Requirements
- Experience as a cook or in a related role
- Ability to acquire food safety certification
- Basic math and counting skills
- Ability to use knives and kitchen equipment safely
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Physical ability to perform lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing
- Must wear uniforms and/or use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
Job Qualifications
- Experience as a cook or in a related role required
- Validated knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as accurate food handling, sanitation, and storage
- Must be able to acquire food safety certification
- Demonstrate basic math and counting skills
- Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
Job Duties
- Cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
- Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
- Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
- Safely use a variety of utensils including knives
- Operate equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
- Bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
- Arrange, garnish, and portion food according to established guidelines
- Properly store food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
- Maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
- Adhere to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
- Ensure security of company assets
